The reference photo I used for this portrait was taken from above looking down, not straight on like usual. I loved Amelia's big smile and wacky animal print ears. Placing the table in front of her helped reduce the affect of her diminishing body and I'm realy happy with the finished effect. I feel the painting has a slightly surreal Mad Hatter's Tea Party quality to it. Amelias' grandmother told me that Amelia got a little upset when she first saw the painting, because she realised that she had lost her leopard skin ears
